Octavian almost stumbled back, obviously caught off balance by the hideous cackling that echoed inside his head, forcing him to close his eyes. ~Of course my dearest Finn. How could I forget?~ Her words echoed in his own mind, he was aware now of the conversation. Fear then wrapped its icy fist around his heart. ~Always suck lovely plants, especially the red ones, reminds me so much of my paintings in Rome~ He could hear her sighing almost happily in his mind as the images came flooding back to him.
"Gah." He called out in almost pain. Rini hadn't ever taken hold this hard since he'd begun his training. What was Finn doing? ~Was it the flowers that brought me to your memory my lovely Finn?~ She asked him in her screeching, maddening voice. Octavian clutched at his head, trying to wrest some kind of control back from the hag in his mind. How could he hear her? What the he'll was going on?

He felt the rippling wash over him every time she spoke. She was feeding from the power of the man that killed her, trying to get her revenge through him. Her insanity colored his thoughts, and in Finn's dead little heart, he almost felt sympathy. He stared at Octavian as he squirmed and cried out, knowing all too well the pain he must be in.
"No, girl, the flowers will never make me think of you. There is another memory."
He did not speak the name of the monster, nor did he allow her access to his thoughts. It was as if he was strangling Rini with the very Network he used to communicate with her. He reached out a hand, letting it fall heavy on Octavian's shoulder. He would have blissful silence in his mind for some time.
There was no kindness in his gaze, but if the neonate looked close enough, he would see something else: understanding. "You are not a child of my father," he told him in a low rumble. "Her insanity will destroy you. It is not your gift to receive."

Octavian looked into Finn's emerald eyes, Rini was quiet and the weight of his arm was solid. Octavian could easily have been crushed and destroyed in all manner of ways with that arm, but it was a comfort to him, as was the understanding in Finn's godlike eyes. "I didn't try to take the gift Finn, I was so angry, she'd hurt so many, threatened the masquerade, threatened Amy." His brown eyes would close slowly, a serene smile grew on his face. "You are mad Finn, terribly mad, but it suits you my friend. Is there a way to silence her, permanently?" His eyes opened again, searching for an answer in those intense eyes of Finn's.
He managed to stand straighter, and he warm smile that touched his lips, made it all the way up to his eye. "Thank you for this Finn. Even this small moment of quiet. You really are a hero to me." Again that grin, that genuine heartfelt gratitude toward the Malkavian. "What is it I can do for you?" He asked, that was three he owed Finn. One for the blood bond, one for the sucker punch, and one for the silence. If he could pay the Primogen back in any way he would.

Octavian thought it best to be indebted to a lunatic? He was so willing to owe parts of his soul to a madman, one whom even he acknowledged as mad. Perhaps he was wrong. He had convinced himself that the neonate belonged to the proper Clan, that he was Ventrue to his core. Yet, standing there, staring at him... Perhaps he was a child of Malkav somewhere inside.
"I will ask for what I want one day," Finn told him, ominous. He stepped closer to the neonate, until he was hovering over him, staring down at the man.
"When I do... do not deny me what I ask."

Octavian nodded once, still staring into those all too hard emerald eyes. "I will not hurt Amy, and I will not hurt my family Finn. You are a part of my family, even if I'm not part of yours." He kept his gaze level, focused on the massive man before him. "And I truly am sorry I hurt you." He apologized, dipping his eyes respectfully for a few moments, before returning that gaze to the madman's. "When you need me, you know where to find me." Octavian would reach up and pat the larger man on his shoulder, in a gesture of kindness and kinship.
Finn was forever a mystery to the young neonate, both helpful and terrifying. What would the crazed madman do, why did he do what he did, what were Finn's real motivations? He couldn't fathom any of them, only the results always seemed to help Octavian in some way or another, even if he really didn't understand how or why.

There was a single moment of silence stretching out between the two men as Octavian tried to show some kind of affection for the madman. After so long spent in Nagasaki, he should know better than to expect a response. Finn wasn't exactly the most kindred of spirits, and even those he cared for deeply did not see it often.
He shrugged off the hand upon his shoulder, his gaze neutral. "Go back inside," he instructed the neonate, not allowing any room for argument. It wasn't quite a command but he had no interest in wasting time. "Your wife is waiting for you."
Finn turned away from him: a complete dismissal. He began to wander through the garden as if he owned it. The moment Octavian turned away from him, whatever spell he had put on him would shatter, and Rini would return to him.

Octavian watched Finn for a long moment and nodded turning to return to the main room. The moment he cleared the door, Rini's echoing screech assaulted his mind. It took everything he had to maintain a straight face, walk normally, and not clutch at his temples. The smile that graced his face was strained with pain as he looked upon his beloved. Rini was tearing into his mind with a force he hadn't experienced before. Hopefully after this little tantrum, he'd get some peace from the demented hag. 'Amy, just focus on Amy.' He reminded himself moving once again to sit next to his beloved, his Prince. The screeching continued, but somehow with how close he'd come to Amy, it was quieted a bit. Relaxation was obvious on the young Ventrue's face as he carefully took her hand, not an overt showing of affection, that wouldn't be proper, but she'd know what it meant, what he felt. God he loved her.

Whatever idle conversation had happened in his absence quieted the moment the door opened again. Amy did not turn her head to greet him; he should know how improper that would be. After all, Mizuki had been in the middle of an interesting tale, Felix standing just behind his Primogen. The quiet was expected, but the Prince made it quite obvious that the Gangrel had her attention.
When he came back to sit next to her, she allowed him to take her hand. Turning her head wordlessly, she brushed her icy lips across his cheek. It was a very subtle greeting between the married couple, but nobody could say they were any less than Ventrue. Perfect Ventrue.
"Please, Mizuki," Amy implored him with a smile. "Do continue your story."
The Primogen smiled and offered a very slight shake of his head, turning to look at his warden. "No, I do not believe that to be necessary, my Prince. I believe it is time for Felix and I to retire to the woods." It was a pointed comment and his gaze fell upon Graham for a moment. "I assume you, too, have to get back to your... lovely little apartment building."
With a respectful bow to his Prince and a friendly wave to her husband, Mizuki turned, allowing the warden to help him limp his way out of the Manor home.

Graham watched as Octavian walked in curious as to what he and Finn talked about. That curiousity was shut down when Muzuki spoke. He turned and smiled politely at Mizuki.
"Indeed, I do miss the view. I can see your... Delightful little home from my balcony."
But he too would stand up and shift his cane to help keep his balance, his retainer walking over to stand behind him. Turning to the Prince and her husband nodding at them.
"It was a delight to see you again my Prince."
Turning to face Cho he gave her a genuine smile.
"Until next time my sweet."
He would say with a wink. Turning to walk out he stopped and turned back around, he looked at Octavian.
"Oh, and welcome home."
Then he turned back around and walked out.

Octavian enjoyed the kiss, the love it signified, and the truth of their act. The truth that was not hidden, yet remained well within the iron grip of Ventrue Etiquette. As the Gangrel Primogen moved to make his exit, Octavian would return his wave with a warm smile. Kindness obvious in his brown eyes. He'd always liked the Gangrel Primogen, wise beyond the young Ventrue's understanding. Graham was a different story all together, sending his regards with his back turned was an obvious affront, one the neonate decided not to press.
"May your steed get you home safely Mr Michaels." Octavian responded with that same warm tone, relaxing at last with the most important person in the world. Amy.
