Eto let the dwarf female touch him, that alone should have spoken volumes to her. Did he trust her? Anyone who asks if they trust you is usually not someone you want to trust. But where Thorn was concerned, he trusted her judgement, especially with these strange creatures. It dawned on him, when the illusion that covered her eyes faded that she had already dealt with the moral qualms of her actions. Grief was something he could recognize, empathize with. Did he trust her? No, but he was going to, especially if Thorn's life was on the line. "Yeah, I'll listen." His voice had changed, gone was the throaty growl that had come out with his every word since his arrival, now there was something closer to empathy, sadness.
Those eyes, he could have sworn he'd seen them somewhere before. Maybe not the eyes themselves, but the whirling and swirling mass of pure chaos that seemed to be trapped inside that tiny body. He ran that over in his mind a couple times as his far too keen vision studied the dwarf before him. Her manifestation probably meant nothing. Was she that chaos, sentient chaos? Or was there more too it. He'd shelve that thought for another time. Thorn could be in danger, and if the little dwarf could help him keep Thorn out of it, he wasn't going to simply deny her out of stubborn arrogance.

The little dwarf smiled with gratitude and bowed at the waist in a funny little curtsy. She glanced back to Thorn and the male dwarf to make sure they were still deep in conversation before turning Eto and leaning in towards him. Her mannerisms were so like a schoolgirl telling a naughty secret but they only were part of the body she was in. In short, she was only playing the part.
"I know you care about Silverthorn, i can feel chaos as my own and i know the chaos of horror you feel when you talk or think about that unfortunate incident between you both. I need you to know i harbour no ill will because of that event, but at the same time it has created a downside, one that worries all the Nine greatly. In all her time only you managed to rip her apart so finally, so completely as to cause death in the soul sense. I need to ask you a few favours of which i think you would already be willing to do, but i need to make your cooperation willing. If i do it this way you will be more serious to take one path certainly, and not second guess what you should or shouldnt do. It is easy to muddy the waters when you are being begged by a friend."
She shifted a little back from him looking in his eyes directly while asking the questions. "First i need you to promise me that you will never ever allow yourself to be the cause of her soul ripping apart. Second you must promise you will always keep her safe from harm as you see it. And third i need you to help her with what her changes entail. Silverthorn is changing quite drastically and we didnt relise she would find it hard to cope with. We need someone to be there for her, especially with regards the emotional changes. Can i trust you to do these things?"

Eto looked away when the dwarf made mention of Thorn's only demise. Guilt washed over him in heavy waves and he spoke softly, his weapons forgotten as his hands rose up and covered his face. "I can promise that I will never willing allow myself to be the cause of her demise... Safe from harm miss... I don't even know your name..." He laughed rather darkly, and all of that intent was aimed directly at himself. "Three minutes ago would have meant me cutting you to ribbons... But I understand what you mean... Lastly, I don't know how you couldn't see the effect this totally alien change to her would cause... I don't know that I can do much with it... But I promise for all that that is worth that I'll do everything I can to be with her and keep her safe..."
Ruby eyes turned toward the little female dwarf. "Whatever it takes to keep one of the only real friends I have safe... I love her, not as a lover..." Eto shakes his head not at all wanting to get into the complication that was his relationship with the daemoness. "I promise." He agreed as he looked into the dwarfs illusion eyes. "Whatever it takes."

As soon as he made the promise the little dwarfs eyes flashed back to the rouling chaos, a flicker of the creature behind the little facade, Eto would get the feeling that his promise was etched somewhere deep in time and deep into himself, then it was gone leaving a memory of a strangely formal event. She nodded at him briefly and reached up to take his hand and squeeze it, again briefly. Then would let go and turn back to Thorn and her male counterpart.
It seemed that Thorn was finishing up her questions with the little male, who wore a tolerant smile on his face. She was perhaps the most exasperating and demanding of the few he dealt wi the directly, but she returned so much more so he resigned himself to answering all her questions. He also knew the other dwarf needed to get something from the red haired vampire. This little man had a few misgivings about the vampire but he kept them to himself. In his opinion Thorn kept him around just in case she d3cided she couldnt live. But the other of the Nine had disagreed saying Eto was part of a similar area of the chaos and Thorn would be naturally drawn to him in one way or another. His female counterpart there had nodded agreeing with this so he had kept quiet on the matter. As the female came back towards him he looked at her and some unspoken communication passed between them.
Thorn had gone very quiet now as she digested this information and she was chewing viciously at one of her nails, as she often did. He watched her digest all he had told her, and probably other information she was gathering from other sources, and he smiled with something pretty close to affection. The female took hold of his hand and they stood there like a married couple, watching Thorn and waiting patiently. They wanted to make sure her questions were answered. While they waited it was the male that turned to Eto and answer his question in a soft voice.
"We did know the changes that would happen to Silverthorn, but we were not aware how fast they would happen. She needed to reach certain levels in parts of her quest, that eould trigger her development, which i have just explained to her as well, and the way she organised the things in her quest these focal points, if you will, happened in rapid succession, instead of just over a period of time. So it was of course more dramatic for her as she changed. It would have helped if she wasnt organised the way she was, i did hope you might have helped but Thorn has that abhorrence for technology, we didnt see that. Our sight is more a 'big picture' thing and not really accurate with the details. So we didnt see this causing her so much distress, which of course is why we are here now. Both of us..."
He looked with a smile at the female dwarf and she nodded slightly. Thorn continued her contemplation and didnt react, so the two gave Eto a smile and a wave, "tell Thorn she can use the house. The owner has been gone and wont be back for a very long time. We set it up for her." He gave him a wink then the both of them started to fade out waving to Eto as they vanished.

Eto nodded toward both of them, as they left. He had a lot to contemplate. His promise to the female dwarf felt somehow far more substantial than any he'd ever made, he frowned a bit at the thought that something somehow had changed, but contemplating that would have to wait. As the pair of dwarfs vanished, he'd turn toward his oldest friend, a concerned look on his face, one far more concerned than it really had any right to be. "The dwarfs have given you this house Thorn." He spoke softly, stepping close to her, his hand moving up to touch her arm gently should she allow it. He wanted to break her from whatever trance it was that she had fallen into. "I hope that they answered you're questions..." Ruby eyes flashed for a moment as he thought about everything they'd said. He sort of understood why and how they did things, and it bought them a lot more sympathy, especially in regards to how Thorn was responding, but there was still a level of hostility that he felt towards them.
He let out a soft sounding sigh. "Are you going to be okay?" He asked her at last, searching her silvery eyes for any signs of trouble. Anything that he with his specific set of skills could somehow alleviate. Eto was a fighter, a warrior, emotional help he was terrible with, especially with his temper and his sense of right and wrong. But he'd try, he'd do everything he could to make sure that she was as happy as he could make her regardless of her quest. Regardless of the damn dwarfs and regardless of how everything else involving the people of Nagasaki. His brows furrowed at that last thought. Why did he think that? Hmmm.

At Etos touch Thorn shook her head and blinked a few times as her eyes come back into focus, they rove around till they meet Etos worried face and she smiles a little. Much of the t3nsion that was in her is gone. Her eyes look to his hand and back at his face. She can feel his worry and she feeds off it even as she nods to him and closes her eyes lifting her arms up above her head and extended her wings up and out behind her stretching them out. Th orns wings were very large, black and leathery with a few patches 9f greyish black feathers. A few feathers shake loose and float away. After stretching she lowers her arms but keaves her wings spread out just missing the walls and ceiling of the strange japanese house. Her mind is now ordered properly she is aware of the librarian thatncan help, her, the strange intriguing vampire leader and now she is also aware that she is not going to become an angel. She would never have to ask Eto to do what she had considered necessary. She felt a huge relief, a burden lifted from her shoulders.
"I am fine Eto, better than fine. I am going to be okay."
She pulls her wings back down and folds them around herself again. She glances around the room and notes all the things until her eyes stop at another door that is not the one they came in through. She heads in taht direction. "There is much more to this house than this room. He showed me, here i will show you. This is just what i need to work here in Limbo."

Eto nodded once looking over the interior of the building. It somehow seemed... Too small for her lab and everything she usually had and used. "How it works?" He asked looking over the building once again. It looked like a normal Japanese house, though why a house would be floating around in limbo was beyond him. Something about it, more than something, something's would be interesting for sure. "Lead the way." He smiled toward Thorn. Soon, everything would be alright soon.

-there was now just the two of them there and Thorn began moving around the room, touching some things and staring intently at others before she stopped before a seemingly simple urn bearing flowers that seemed eternally erect.her silver white orbs ran over the object and she leaned forwards studying it carefully before putting her hand out and reaching into the flowers feeling for something. Strangely her hands passed right through the flowers and she seemed to grasp something behind them that couldnt be seen from the front. She twisted her hand about 180 degrees then her eyes flew to the wall beside that made a large grating then a clunk then began to hum mechanically as it shifted up and down a few times. After the initial shudder it moved upwards revealing a staircase that spiraled downwards, not unlike that of the one that led upwards to her tower in her home on hell7. She smiled softly, a strange expression rarely seen on her face except to a very few, and she turned shining almost irridescent eyes on Etos face.-
"Well that seems to work pretty well, shall we go and have a look what they left for me?"
Without waiting for an answer she was heading down the stares her eyes devouring all around her as she came to the next landing looking around at rows and rows of dust free bookshelves, tomes of thousands of languages earthly and otherwise. Thorn sighed softly as she reached out and ran fingertips over them with reverence. There were empty shelves across one wall, not enough to hold Thorns own library but some could be brought across. There was a peace emanating from thorns face as she moved further into the room.

Eto followed her through the little house, his ruby eyes scanning and scouring every corner and every space. Everything looked, at least to him as if it had been planted and prepared there for a showing, the building was, at least to his eyes pristine. The paneling in the walls, the polish on the floors, everything seemed... Too perfect. His small frame stopped beside Thorn as she began to examine the urn of flowers.
~Why would someone put flowers... In an Urn..?~ He thought to himself before chuckling quietly. ~And how why would someone choose to live in a mausoleum Eto?~ His eyes came alight a bit as his own little private joke. It was only as Thorn's hand moved through the urn that his eyes narrowed slightly. Perhaps an illusion, perhaps another trick, hologram? But that technology was still in it's infancy, and this place seemed to lack the prerequisite equipment to house such large scale technologies. Illusion, more likely. His keen ears picked up on the mechanical nature of the passage opening up beside them, his hands falling automatically to the scimitars that always adorned his hips.
"I thought we were on the ground floor..?" He puzzled a bit before nodding his agreement to his oldest friend, following her down the staircase, his supple leather boots not making a sound on the steps as they made their way down. Books, a veritable wealth of them, most of them he wouldn't be able to read or decipher without some of his own equipment. Thorn's reverence for the books brought a calm smile to his face, everything in the multiverse seemed to be alright then. He'd shelf their previous conversation for the time being and bring it up at a more opportune moment.
"Why did you warn me about the Witch Thorn?" He asked, his hands still comfortably on the scimitars at his hips. It wasn't a threatening gesture, but a self-comforting one. There was almost universal peace in the house, even on this landing, and that wasn't something the vampire was used to feeling by any means.

Thorn was lost for a moment in reverie. For a long while she had been unable to continue her studies and the calm these books brought her was a welcome change. Her task had taken her in a new direction which didnt need her to complete countless studies on everything around her. Wistfully she glanced over the spines of the musty tomes that lined the shelves and she sighed in a melancholy way. She turned to Eto with a slight smile her silver orbs subdued for the moment. One eyebrow raised slightly at his question.
"I felt something from her while she was here, but more than that. I remember her. I remember her from the wastes, i could never forget that female.
Thorn drifted further back into the room, her eyes studying clisely one of the bookshelves. It seemed everything about this place was planned to make it secretive. Someone who didnt know their way around would only think it was just one possibly two storeys. Her hand moved out to a bookend in the shape of a demon or imp and after running her hand over it for a second she pulled it towards her. The object made a low grinding sound as it reluctantly shifted and then moved till it looked like it was lying down. The whole bookshelf shuddered and lurched slightly then smoothly rolled to the side. The room was almost an exact replica of Thorn's lab. Her eyes blazed for a split second as she looked it over her expression was dreamy.
"She was the one that cursed me to look like i do....."

Eto stood a few paces back pondering for a moment how very long ago it must have been that the witch had cursed Thorn. She'd been alive for countless thousands of years, and he only a spare couple hundred. For her to remember someone so clearly, so vividly that she'd recognize her when she was that drained, almost delusional... He shook his head a bit and followed behind her to another shelf of books. Someone clearly had some resources and power to create a place like this, a location like this with all of it's secrets and dimensional spaces. Hidden so well that without prior knowledge would have taken the entire place completely for granted.
Ruby eyes tracked Thorn's movements, looking for some difference, something off. Only a few moments ago she was panicked, violently so. He knew why he'd been so paranoid, so unsure about the pair of dwarfs. His eyes shifted as he tilted his head to one side. Something had changed, he knew what that something was, or at least he thought he did. Returning his head to it's normal upright position he sighed softly.
"I may not have heeded your warning particularly well... I spoke to the witch and she asked me to make a couple of promises." Eto looked toward the lab curiously for a moment before continuing on. "I made the promises, and the world seemed to change, seemed to become something totally different. It was like I spoke to time itself, that my promise was recorded, made whole and real somewhere. Her eyes flashed, it was roiling chaos, something I'm not entirely sure of." The vampire shook his head and sighed a bit. "I want to explore this house with you, so I know it when I come back... We also really need to finish our conversation from before they arrived... I..."
Eto's ruby eyes locked onto Thorn's for a moment. "I know for a fact we've both avoided it, but we have to talk about it. There are things you know that I don't and things I know that you don't that can put us both in danger..." Eto gritted this teeth a bit. "I promised the dwarf I would do everything I could to never harm you again, to keep you safe and to help you through these changes..." The vampire sighed, closing his eyes for a moment and speaking very softly. "I need to know what happened. I need you to know what happened with me, and why it happened. I need to keep you safe, and if you and I tip toe around one another as we have for the past half a century... I don't know that I can..." He admitted, obviously painfully.
There was a level of anguish and fear in his eyes, something pushed him, far more than he ever had to keep Thorn safe, and this was doing so, but by causing possible pain. His mind was torn, fractured over what to do. This seemed the only possible way to come to any kind of real conclusion, real decision, and real result. Things had to be settled.

Thorn stepped into the lab, immediately noting the raised round dais that was obviously awaiting her cauldron and her hands twitch in anticipation. Whether she would actually have time for doing anything in this lab was only going to be proved in time. But the fact she might get have the chance was like a balm to her bruised and battered sensibilities. She had been on edge for so long, ever since Swiftclaw had announced war, and she had been forced into hiding to continue her quest. She was really only half listening to zero, more interested in her surroundings, up until he mentioned the process the witch had imposed on him. That definitely got her attention, and she turned after a few steps into the room to look at him directly as he talked, noting some things and rationalizing everything else.
The more he talked about the female the more she noticed a few things about his mannerisms and the affect her little "spell" had had on him. Her face became more concerned as he spoke until he changed the subject to the previous conversation. She immediately grasped the previous subject, because she was concerned about Eto being placed in a task that might harm him, and because she was not sure she wanted to follow the other conversation. Thorn would reach a hand out to Eto and touch his cheek very lightly with burning hot fingers and close her eyes. She was in fact locating the compulsion that had been instilled in him by the witch. She sighed when she found it and let her hand drop.
"It would seem she has given the you a task, much in the same way mine was given to me. This is a puzzle because it means she is much more than I realized. I did feel somewhat of her power when she was here but now that I see what she has done I am beginning to think she is something else altogether. Something much more than I bargained. This is very concerning..."

Eto looked toward Thorn, his lips forming a thin, frustrated line. Was she ever going to actually have the conversation or was she going to avoid it for the rest of eternity? The redhead shook his head a bit and looked toward her, frustration obvious in his glowing ruby eyes. "We've got to talk about both of these things Thorn." Eto responded to her fingers dropping from his cheek. "We can't avoid it for all of eternity. Look I'm sorry alright?" Eto looked toward his oldest friend with a look of frustration in his eyes. "I'm sorry for everything I've done, everything that's hurt you at least. I'm sorry I can't do more about what's going on with everything right now. But I want too, I need to now." The vampire looked away for a moment, his face flushing a bit.
"I've got an idea to take on Swift at least his vanguard. After what happened last time, taking him on myself is almost assuredly suicidal. I'll give you all the details to that plan... I have no idea what this task means for me." Eto held up his delicate hands looking them over curiously. Thorn was fine, and everything seemed for the moment at least tranquil. That in and of it's own brought a shiver down his spine. He'd rarely ever felt peace or tranquility in his life, and the feeling was more than just a bit uncomfortable. "This needs to be settled, why are you trying to avoid it so much Thorn?" He almost demanded. There was something absolutely frustrating about her sometimes, mostly how confusing her methods seemed to be to him.

Thorns silver eyes studied Eto even as she considered his words. She had avoided talking about this subject for so long the reason had become almost lost in the effort to avoid it. F9r the first time she began to see his need for closure on this topic, and a part of her, one that was only recently introduced to her character, gave her pause to consider his position. A strange look came into her eyes that probably had never been there before in the thousands of years she had existed. Her silver white orbs filled with compassion and she almost reached out to him again, to comfort or console, but she refrained from the touch, thousands of years of trained minimal contact preventing her. She took a deep breath and her eyes roamed away from his face that was causing her some guilt in the intensity of his discomfort. When she talked her voice was quiet and subdued even though it still carried that multitoned quality.
"I guess i have been avoiding this matter for so long it is automatic. As i was before i never understood how this affected you." She turned a penetrating silver stare on him. "If i concentrated on how what happened back then affected me i would not have been able to function normally around you. To be honest i put the whole incident aside rather than Think about it because it was too hard for me to face emotionally as i used to be." She drops her gaze to the floor thinking for a moment. "If i had acted as i should in response from that event i think i should have sought you out and killed you, at least that is what my Father expected me to do. He never understood what was between you and i."
Thorn moves further into the lab room and puts a toe on the cauldron dais her eyes lost in thought as she considers what she is about to say. "I think i understand the witch, i think i know what she is. Or rather who. And i understand why she did this to you." Her eyes rise back to rest on Etos face a very faint shadow of a smile on her lips. "It is interesting that she would put this 'curse' on me and yet manipulate you to protect me from thw only one that has been successful in destroying me, dont you think?"

Eto watched and listened carefully to his oldest friend, the look of confusion leaving his eyes and she began piecing the puzzle together that she seemed to have been well aware of far before he'd been. His red hair tumbled messily down to one side as his head tilted, contemplation obvious in his eyes. How long had he struggled with his actions? How long had he fought himself to try and figure out exactly what had happened? How many people died because he'd gone asking questions that they themselves didn't want to answer? "I can think of the simple logical reasons. I'm the only one who's ever been successful, I'm the only one who you have ever been close enough with to let it happen, and even when it did I didn't want to. I didn't want to then, I don't want to now, and never in the entire time I've known you have I wished you harm."
The mercenary vampire contemplated his own words, his own thoughts. "She knew I would protect you. That much I know, but she knows more... I don't know ho or why or what exactly but she does. Why did she do this to me Thorn?" The question he figured she'd have a much firmer understanding of then he. His ruby eyes seemed to dim as he looked her over, then looked to the floor. "Why do you think she cursed you, and why do you think she manipulated me? I mean do you know why it happened? Do you know why I destroyed you? Did you know it wasn't my intention, or in my power to stop?" The pain was very obvious in his tone as he asked, he wasn't looking for atonement, just understanding.
