Frustration showed plainly on the mercenaries face as he wandered the streets of Nagasaki's shopping district. He'd come with a purpose, and while normally he'd have someone else do his shopping, a painful chore on most occasions, this festival was supposed to be special. It meant something to not only the people of the city, but the vampires as well. His frail form moved through the crowd like a wraith, never once touching any of it's inhabitants, not that they wouldn't have given him space had they known who and what he was. Instead he'd chosen to be among them, to be like them in his search for the perfect gift, the perfect apology.
As it seemed to always be, the shops, though filled with beautiful decorations and designs for the festival seemed to his detail trained eye, lacking. Each shop seemed more of a waste of time than the last, that is until he happened upon a place that he wouldn't, and couldn't really describe as wrong.
The entire showroom smelled wonderful, of wildflowers and roses, lilies and lilacs. A flower shop, one of the few places he'd never truly experienced. Each of the dozen or so rows of shelves contained a myriad of flowers and gifts all dedicated to the festival, and though beautiful in their own right. They weren't what he was looking for.
"Something I can do for you sir?" Came the call of the owner, as she rounded a one of the large displays. Eto's brow arched, he hadn't noticed or even detected the woman's presence until she'd made herself known. His hands trailed down toward the handles of the swords, that for once didn't decorate his hips. The discomfort would have been obvious to anyone that knew him, knew his responses and reactions. But his face remained passive, almost kind as he looked this strange female over. She seemed human, acted it and moved like it, but he couldn't get a read, a feel for her. She was quite simply, the flower lady.
"I'm looking for something, to apologize for a great error of judgement." He responded after a few moments hesitation, to which the flower lady only rolled her eyes and stepped toward the roses. "No, that wont do." He stopped her before she could even begin to suggest the beautiful red flowers. "It's not for a lover, nor for a family member. It's for a friend, someone who deserves better."
The flower lady stopped for a moment, actually eyeing the vampire for a moment, her eyes narrowing slightly. He couldn't quite shake the feeling that she knew more than she let on. "She's a gardener... A good one. I need something... Different." He commented as his fingers twitched, uncomfortable without the supple leather grips of his swords in hand.
The woman seemed to stand there for a good long moment before nodding. "I think I have just the thing."' She commented as she stepped into the back.
Eto stood there in the shop silently, completely still as he waited for the ladies return. "Why is it that this city, the city I'm working on creating a home in is so... Strange?" He pondered out loud, just as the lady walked back in carrying a potted flower.
"That's simple, it's because you're not from around here." She commented setting the plant down on the counter. "Come have a look." She bade him, turning her eyes towards his.
Discomfort only grew as he approached the flower. "How is it that you know that?" He asked as he began studying the beautiful white plant before him. A long thin stem, rose up to hold a star shaped flower, six white petals decorating a gentle yellow center. It was beautiful, and he'd not seen one like it. Though his attention to flora and fauna that wasn't possibly dangerous or useful wasn't exactly what he would cal expert.
"You're dress deary, and you're accent, and how you move, you practically breathe tourist. Though I've never seen a a tourist who could move so fluidly." Was it small talk? Why did this woman seem so aware of the world around her, so aware of a vampire, and yet so completely at peace? Eto could only speculate. "Ipheion Uniflorum. The spring starflower. I've only got the one, and I had been saving it for a special occasion..." She told him as she moved to ring it up. "But you seem more in need of it that I ever will." She smiled, kindheartedly toward him and offered him the price.
"Thank you." Eto's words were sincere, more so than they had been with humans in quite some time, and for once he didn't have much else to say. Passing over the cash he turned to make his way out, moving with the same predatory grace he seemed to almost exude.
"And walking like that is no better Sir!" The flower lady called out as the door closed.
Eto was shocked, bewildered, and a little bit shamed, but he had what he'd been looking for. Now he had only one goal in mind. Head to O'Connor Manor.
