Name: Madeline Blake
Nickname: Maddy
Character Sheet
Species / Clan: Vampire / Gangrel {Ahrimanes}
Status: City Dweller
Age: 68
Age Appearance: 27
Gender: Female
Nationality: United States of America, Tuscon, Arizona
Ethnicity: Caramel
Height: 5'9
Weight: 145
Religious beliefs: N/A
Sexual Orientation: Work, sex is distracting.
Appearance: Madeline's caramel complexion and keen grey eyes bring her no end of grief. Even in standard police uniform, she draws attention if she isn't careful, and that attention is most certainly uninvited. Nagasaki wasn't exactly an easy city for her to fit into, but with the right set of clothing, she could make herself disappear. Long wavy brown hair falls down to just below her shoulder blades. More often than not her hair was pulled back and tied up in a neat bun. No tattoo's or piercings marred her flawless skin as a precaution. She didn't want anyone she'd arrested, or worse, someone she knew to recognize her, while she was out and about during her nighttime rituals.
Personality: Madeline is a very quiet, focused detective in almost every sense of the word. Her words when she chooses to use them are slow, concise and for the most part thoughtful. Her mannerisms are mechanical in nature, just like every other cop on the beat. She avoids crowds when not specifically working, preferring even then to take the long stakeouts over the squad based operations. Her co-workers tend to give her space, her uncanny conclusions and predictions making them suspicious and uncomfortable in her presence. Especially when they had something they didn't want to share. Though polite to a fault, it is often just the content of her rather short conversations that push even the most stoic of officer's away. 'Solitude is a wonderful thing. Those that cannot find you, cannot hurt you.'
Interests: Madeline is very keen on the motives and actions of those around her; often taking the time to shadow perspective informants for days, or even weeks on end when she's in the neighborhood for the new take on things. Everyone from narc who hangs out at the docks after hours, to the eccentric financial accountant who's creativity caused millions of dollars worth of pension funds to vanish. All of them had their motives, all of them acted, and it was that one similarity that all people share. Motivation, action.
Skills: Information gathering, infiltration, detail oriented investigation, and putting the perpetrators in shackles and sending them off to prison.
History: Madeline was born and spent the earliest years of her life in Phoenix Arizona, where her father, Antonio was a beat cop, and her mother Constance spent her evenings as a museum overnight guard. Life was good for the baby, money was tight for the Blake family but, together they made do. Only a few days before Christmas, Constance was gunned down in a botched heist. Antonio, unable to continue supporting Madeline in Phoenix, moved back to Tuscon and his family. Madeline being too young to really know what had happened grew up fairly normally. Her father put her through self defense classes, took her to the range and taught her to keep herself safe. The aging Mexican American had already lost one of the most important women in his life, he wasn't about to lose her.
Her life revolved around his schedule, something that never really bothered her. She understood at a young age that his job would have him working at all hours of the day and night, and it didn't bother her. It wasn't until the end of middle school that she began divorcing herself from the rest of the student body. Time at the range started to replace regular after school activities. Her Piano lessons turned into Judo lessons, everyday life became her job. School existed to burn the time away between learning how to become an officer and sleeping. Was it her father's influence, or the death of her mother at such an early age that caused such an unusual career choice for her?
College proved to her that it wasn't really what you knew, it was what you could regurgitate back to the people asking the questions. The classes were easy. Criminal Justice wasn't exactly a career for the brilliant, and she flew through them, graduating early with honors. As always, when he could her father was there, cheering his little girl on. Five years after her graduation from college, she earned her detective shield. Antonio couldn't have been more proud.
Five months later, a few weeks after her birthday, she was given a case file. People were going missing from the local mountain trails, suspected serial killer. She took the case immediately. Days of footwork brought nothing. Her contacts were either dry, or they were more afraid of whomever was killing people in the woods than they were of a prison sentence. Out of leads and out of options, Madeline made the only call left to her. She headed for the mountains.
Dusk had come and gone on those dusty mountain trails. With her flashlight in one hand, and her M1911 in the other, she thought she was ready for whomever was out there hurting people. Unfortunately for her, it wasn't a who that attacked her, it was a Kindred. Strangely enough, he didn't kill her, but changed her into one of their own kind.
It took her months of careful searching, planning and plotting to find the one who turned her, who took her away from her father, her career, her everything. It was a mad blur of motion as she chased the other Gangrel through the woods. Hours passed, and though most of the night had already come and gone, she caught him, trapping him in a snare for just long enough to get a hold of him. After a few moments struggle, the Gangrel began explaining things, how they really were. The Camarilla, the Kindred, ghouls, everything that ran in the shadows without normal human's ever finding out.
Madeline stood in silence, there wasn't anymore rage left. With a silent accepting nod, Madeline forfeited her human life, her father and everything she knew. What was it that fate had in-store for her? Would she survive it? And if she didn't, who would mourn her passing? Accepting her fate for what it was, Madeline ensured that her father would have a corpse to bury for her, and she left Tuscon, and the United States for good.
